What is the zone of consideration for GDCE on South Western Railway ?

The zone of consideration for South Western Railway will encampass staff belonging to the Department/Branches in a Division/Workshop/Headquarters Office/Extra Divisional Office/Production Unit and Rail Wheel Factory, Yalahanka.

What are the categories of posts covered under GDCE?

The Categories covered under GDCE are as under:

  1. Non Technical Popular Categories namely Train Clerks, Ticket Examiners, Commercial Clerks, Telephone operators, Accounts Clerks, Office Clerks.
  2. Operational Categories namely Diesel/Elec. Assts.(Loco Pilots) (where direct recruitment is made to the extent of shortfall), Goods Guards, and Asst.Station Master.

Whether the quotas prescribed for SC/ST/OBCs are applicable under GDCE?

Yes. As applicable for Direct Recruitments.

Who can apply for the posts notified under GDCE?

All regular employees possesing the prescribed educational qualifications for direct recruitments with lower grade pay than the category for which GDCE is called irrespective cadre are eligible to appear in the GDCE.

Which category of staff are not eligible to appear for GDCE?

RPF/RPSF Personnel are not eligible to apply.

Ans:

Any other criterian of ineligibility for appearing for GDCE?

Those employees whose Grade Pay is equal and more than the category for which GDCE is called are not eligible to apply.

What is the maximum age limit for application under GDCE?

The maximum age limit for appearing in the GDCE will be 42 years for General candidates, 45 years for OBC candidates and 47 for SC/ST candidates reckoned as on the date of notification

What is the mode of application?.

The employees serving on South Western Railway and RWF/YNK can submit their applications through proper channel in response to the notification for GDCE. The applicants shall first  register their application ONLINE and after registering the application ONLINE, should take the printout (hard copy) of the application. After duly filling all the required details should submit the same along with all the required documents to the concerned Supervisory Officials of the field Units not later than 02 working days from the last date of registering ONLINE application The supervisory Official should verify the applications submitted by the candidates and forward them in one bunch to the Personnel Department of concerned unit/Office/Division. The same will be then forwarded to RRC on verification by the concerned Personnel Department.

What is the method of selection under GDCE?

The GDCE will comprise of written test followed by Psychological Test as applicable. The panels will be formed strictly in order of merit. The standard of examination shall be like that of direct recruitment to avoid any dilution of the cadre.

Whether GDCE will have Objective type or Subjective type questions? Is there is a provision for writing the exam in Hindi or Local languages? 

The questions set in the written examination will be of Multiple Choice Objective Type.  The question paper will be set in English, Hindi, Urdu and local languages i.e. Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Malayalam & Konkani.

What is the standard of questions in the GDCE examination?

The standard of the questions for the written examination will generally be in conformity with the educational standards prescribed for the post. The questions are likely to include subjects pertaining to General awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence and Reasoning, Gen. Science and Technical abilility.

Will there be any negative marks for wrong answers?

Yes. There will be negative marking in written examination and marks will be deducted for each wrong answer @ 1/3 of the marks allotted for each question.

Whether interse seniority of employees will be maintained?

No.  The panels will be formed strictly in the order of merit.

Any relaxed standards are exteded to the candidates under GDCE if none are qualified or less number of candidates qualify in the written exam? How the shortfall will be made good?

There are no relaxed standards in GDCE. The selection will be made on the normal standards as per extent rules. The shortfall will be made good by direct recruitment through Railway Recruitment Board.
